Family Storytelling is all about capturing the genuine emotions and connections between family members. It's not just about taking pretty portraits, but more about telling a story through images.

For these sessions, I take a documentary approach, meaning I captured the family doing what they naturally do at home or outdoors.

The photos tell a beautiful narrative of their everyday life. From the sweet moments of the parents gently cradling their baby to the joyous giggles shared by siblings, every image embodies the love and happiness that fills their home.

Being able to photograph families in their own environment adds authenticity and depth to the storytelling aspect of the session. It allows me to capture the family's unique dynamics, their personal belongings, and the little details that are often overlooked but hold significant meaning.

I never felt like I had to apologize for my 2. 5 year old's energy or lack of attention span. I also found it as such a great reminder to slow down, live in the moment, and really take in the moments that we are celebrating through images. She is a true pleasure to work with. You leave your shoot feeling cared for, and then when you see your photos its like seeing yourself through someone else's eyes.     What was your experience with working with Karissa?: Karissa photographed my whole family at my childhood home before my parents sold it. We wanted to capture the spirit and memories of the house and those who lived in it, which is exactly what Karissa did. Her attention to detail, and her intuitive eye created photos that were perfect for a memory book. Karissa zeroed in and snapped certain, special details of the home without even being asked. Most of all she made everyone feel at ease. The shoot was easy breezy and took a very short time for all that was captured. No muss no fuss. A true professional.

    Karissa has also done a short, beginners (me) reiki session on me. It was my first time and had no idea what to expect. Mid way through the session I got totally tingly from toes to head, so something was working. It was a great intro and made me want to pursue such healing further.

Family Storytelling

This is for the playful, home loving families. In this longer, storytelling session we capture portraits, play, laughter and joy. We capture the things you love to do at home like play in the yard, build forts, play with legos, cuddle on the couch or play in their room.

You get:

  • ~90 minute session in your home

  • Unlimited edited photos in a digital album

  • 1-2 minute keepsake video

Power Half Hour

In just half an hour, you can have beautiful, candid shots that perfectly reflect the essence of your family. These sessions are ideal for busy families on the go, as they offer a quick and convenient option to document precious moments. Whether you want to capture a milestone, celebrate a special occasion, or simply freeze time with your loved ones, a 30-minute short family photo session is a fantastic choice. With the guidance of a skilled photographer, you can relax, have fun, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

 FAQs

  • A full Storytelling Session is ~90 minutes and a Power Half Hour is ~30 minutes. I personally don’t like to stay on strict time keeping because children often need space to feel or meet their needs.

  • I overdeliver all of the little details of your family session. I don’t like to limit to a number and send you what I capture. With this said, it’s usually 30 for a Power Half Hour and 75 + a video.
